Contrary to popular belief Soca music isn’t just simplistic lyrics of jumping, wining or waving over heavy pulsating drum melodies, Yes, we do love those tunes but more artistes are taking the road less travelled and are realizing that this is what listeners have been begging for. Take Bunji Garlin for example, his hit “Differentology” is taking the world by storm, and even though it doesn’t have the generic Soca setup it embodies everything about the genre, simply put, the song makes you feel good and want to dance—which is the essence of Soca music.
