Singer Anthony Cruz mourns his only daughter’s untimely death
Like most 15 years old girls, Shanice Cruz was dreaming about her future, excelling in school, enjoying life, friendship and love. However her life was cut short due to senseless violence and this has been a disheartening tragedy for her father, reggae singer, Anthony Cruz and the reggae community at large. More After The Jump…
Anthony Cruz Sings Aerosmith’s “Don’t Want To Miss A Thing” (Armageddon Soundtrack) at Rebel Salute 2016
“I could stay awake just to hear you breathing
Watch you smile while you are sleeping
While you’re far away and dreaming
I could spend my life in this sweet surrender
I could stay lost in this moment forever
Every moment spent with you
is a moment I treasure“-Aerosmith, Don’t Want To Miss A Thing
“She means the world to me. She was and still is my only daughter and I love her endlessly. It’s very painful, it’s very painful to watch it, it’s very painful to loose a family member. She was a very bright girl, a very smart girl, a straight A student, she has so many awards. It seems like it has been an ongoing domestic violence thing going on, the neighbors said there was always fighting but that still does not give you a reason to take up a gun and shoot at somebody and then you gonna shoot a child and somebody else child, not even your own, it’s just not fair.“-Anthony Cruz told Peter D’Oench, in an exclusive interview for CBS Miami
Kevin Nelson, the perpetrator of this crime was in a tumultuous domestic partnership with Karen Lyle, the mother of Shanice Cruz. On Monday, February 13, Nelson confessed to Sunrise Police that he killed Karen Lyle and Shanice Cruz during a domestic dispute. Nelson was a naturalized citizen, originally from Jamaica and commited the crime on the evening of Friday, February 10, 2017. Nelson is charged with two counts of premediated murder.
We at Boomshots Magazine would like to extend our sincere condolences to Anthony Cruz and family. We stand with you against the violence plaguing communities globally and recognize an increase prevalence of violent acts toward women and children.

“Celebrate the legacy of each of these wondrous lives, your daughter, Shanice and her mother, Karen. I want to say something that I hope just prevents further tragedies of this kind. To be honest too many of our women are enabling unbecoming behavior by our men. Women have to hold men accountable when it comes to being respectful and treating them like ladies; and must be careful of whom they allow around their children. The increase of domestic violence, rape, assault, molestation, murder of women and their children, especially Caribbean women is an ominous sign of the time.”
