Stephen & Damian Marley Remix Slowhand
Thirty nine years after Eric Clapton covered Bob Marley’s “I Shot The Sheriff,” he’s enlisted two of Bob’s sons to remix a single from his latest album, Old Sock. “Every Little Thing” is a song about loving someone so much they can do no wrong in your eyes. It sounds like Clapton got his own kids to sing on this one too. Nice tune for a sunny Friday afternoon. Audio After The Jump… (more…)

HEAR THIS: Denroy Morgan “I’ll Rise To Fight Again”
Brand New Release From The Patriach of the Whole Morgan Line
You think Major Lazer was the first act to blend dance music and reggae? Well think again. One of the first Jamaican artists to enjoy crossover success in the U.S. was Denroy Morgan with his funky disco selection “I’ll Do Anything For You.” Since that time his numerous offspring have spread roots reggae music far and wide in the form of groups like Morgan Heritage, LMS, and Laza Morgan. A couple years back Denroy Morgan ran into a likkle situation, but apparently you can’t keep a good man down. Since then he’s gotten back in the studio with the Anthem Band to make sure his fans know that he’s still in it to win it. Boomshots is proud to premiere his latest release, “I’ll Rise to Fight Again.” Next Monday May 13th Father Morgan will be celebrating his earthstrong with at SOBs NYC with a few good friends and surprise guests for another edition of Boomshots Reggae Mondays. In his latest release, produced by Niko Browne of Lifeline Music, Chronixx offeres a word of advice to all ungrateful complainers. If someone asks you how you’re doing, don’t reply “Not too bad.” Better to give thanks for what you have. Audio After The Jump… (more…)

India Arie Lets Her Vibes Flow In Tobago
The Grammy-Winning Songbird Explains Why She Loves Reggae
India Arie has been on a four-year hiatus from the music business, and while she was away the brilliant and talented artist actually considered giving it all up, going back to school, and trying a new path in life. Thankfully she reconsidered those plans, but she’s only recently begun performing again. In fact her headlining appearance at the Tobago Jazz Experience marks only the second time she has stepped on stage since stepping away from the game. But she clearly has a very special bond with the fans in Tobago, where she has performed in the past. In fact she felt so comfortable on stage that she shared some never-before-heard songs from her new album Songversation, which is due to be released next month. After an amazing and emotional performance, India blessed Reshma B with an interview in which she shared her thoughts about returning to the stage, and explained why she loves reggae music so much. She even shared the news that some new collaborations with Gramps Morgan are on the way soon. Video After The Jump… (more…) -
Lianne La Havas Jazzes It Up In Tobago
UK Singer Songwriter Reconnects With Her Caribbean Roots
Though her mother’s side of the family is Jamaican, London-born Lianne La Havas had never been to the Caribbean before she performed at this year’s Tobago Jazz Experience. Although the tropical weather forced a rain delay, the 24-year-old folk and soul singer rallied back on the final night of the festival with a solo set that filled the Tobago evening with intoxicatingly sweet sounds. (If you’re not yet up on the self-described “shinger, shongwriter and guitarisht” go ahead and check her debut Is Your Love Big Enough, which was voted last year’s iTunes Album of the Year.) Shortly after stepping off the stage at Pigeon Point, Lianne told Reshma B that she wants to be play strictly Caribbean dates from now on. And can you really blame her? Video After The Jump… (more…)

HEAR THIS: Wayne Wonder “Flashback”
How’d Singso Know We’ve Been “Right Here Waiting” For One Of His Classics To Come Back?
There’s not many singers who can make a computerized riddim tug at your heartstrings like Wayne Wonder. His catalog is filled with dreamy love songs set to cutting-edge eletronic grooves. Back in the day he used to flip a lot of cover versions, until he hit 1995 with the turning point album Original Bombshell. Since then it’s been “No Turning Back” for the Billboard-certified outernational hitmaker. So we were pleasantly suprised when we received our latest Johnny Wonder 21st Hapilos E-Blast and saw that Wayne had linked with Mad Spyder productions to release a thing called “Flashback.” It’s a crispy 2013 update of his best-loved dancehall classics—a cover of Richard Marx’s pleasantly cheesy “Right Here Waiting”—inna 2013 style. And surprise surprise—it sounds sweeter than ever. Audio After The Jump… (more…)
