It’s undeniable that 2013 was a huge year for Major Lazer, selling out show after show and being on the production credits of many huge albums their name and fan base has definitely grown. There was a time however when only a select few were privy to the unique sound of Major Lazer, let’s say around the 2009 right before the Vybz Kartel assisted “Pon De Floor” ravaged the airwaves (and our eyes, if you saw the video) there was another tune entitled “Hold The Line.” Lazer pegged dancehall star Lexxus and rapper/singer Santigold a combination at the time no one saw coming, but given the collaborations Lazer have had over the years this was one of the more tamer ones. Known for their hilarious skits and impersonations of top dancehall artistes, comedy duo Twin Of Twins takes a different route with the visual for their latest “Up Wid Di Money.” More a short film than a music video “Up Wid Di Money” depicts the harsh realities majority of the residents of the local garrisons go though daily and that even with a good education some still are forced to run the streets to make ends meet. Now, the twins aren’t promoting this lifestyle but neither are they denying it. Sean Paul and Fatman Scoop’s official video for their tune “Party Tun Up (Remix) we take a look back at one of Vegas and Paul’s previous Hip Hop collaborations from the classic Hype Williams directed “Belly.” The dog himself DMX roped in Vegas and Paul for the 1998 hit “Top Shotter” (commonly known as “Here Comes The Boom”) to create one of the best hip hop/dancehall crossover records ever.
