  • WATCH THIS: Spice Sumfest Interview “The Name is Spice, I Have To Keep It Spicy”

The Mad Gyal Talks Kartel, Hip-Hop Collabos, and Twerking
    SpiceBoom
Year in and year out, one of the most reliable standout performers at Reggae Sumfest Dancehall Night is Spice. Her entrance is always amazing, but this year she really out did herself. You may have heard how she took the stage in 13-inch heels AND inside a giant plastic bubble. Lady Gaga eat your heart out. It was all good until she took a tumble off those heels and hit the stage with a bump. But you’ve got to love Spice for keeping the show going without a hitch. Backstage at Reggae Sumfest 2013, Spice chatted with Reshma B about how her grand entrance went wrong, and RGAT reminded her that these sorts of things happen to everybody—ever supermodels like Naomi Campbell. And of course the show must go on! Spice and RGAT also spoke about her hit single “Twerk” and how the dance is a great way to stay fit. Spice went on to fill RGAT in about her sexy new single and video “Come Inside.” She also spoke about why she brought a Vybz Kartel lookalike onstage and how she would be happy to collaborate with the World Boss when he comes home. Finally Spice shares her international collab wish list: Who do you think made the cut? Video After The Jump…

  • HEAR THIS: Queen Ifrica “Freedom of Speech”

The Queen Fires Back At Her Critics
    QueenIfrica
Queen Ifrica has been under fire of late for comments she made during an official “Grand Gala” event celebrating Jamaica’s independence at the National Stadium. Performing before a crowd estimated at 20,000 —including Prime Minister Portai Simpson-Miller and numerous other government officials—Ifrica spoke out in favor of ganja decriminalization and also urged the prime minister not to repeal Jamaica’s long-standing anti sodomy law. Coming just two weeks after a cross-dressing youth known as the Gully Queen was stabbed and shot to death by an angry mob, Queen Ifrica’s remarks touched off a firestorm of controversy. Jamaica’s Minister of Culture even issued an official statement expressing regret over her comments. Ifrica has defended her position in the press, and now she’s made a song asserting her right to express her views. Audio After The Jump…  (more…)

  • HEAR THIS: Ninja Man “Badman Law” (Bad Cowboy Riddim)

Man A Real Badman Listen Badman Lawninjaman

Ninja Man has been keeping himself very busy this year and seized every opportunity to remind DJs who is the baddest in the business. The airwaves still haven’t cooled off from the Don Gorgan’s last lyrical outing “Ninja Mi Ninja” (peep the video below) now today we get another tune cementing how bad Ninja really is, the appropriately titled “Badman Law.” Up to his usual tricks Ninja chats with his signature braggadocious flair even managing to give the Worlboss a shout out with:

“Me Mek Kartel Wear Brand In There, So All Gaza Fans Gwan Hang In There.”

One thing is clear, Ninja Man hasn’t fallen off, and the rate he is going he’ll probably lay down his life before he lets anyone beat him in a clash. Run Tune After The Jump… (more…)

  • FLASHBACK FIRDAY: Vybz Kartel Feat. Wayne Marshall “New Millenium”

    Foundation Kartel     kartel

Last week Kartel dropped a scathing verse on Busta Rhymes Twerk It (Remix) reminding us even though he’s behind bars he’s still a force in the dancehall realm. Today we take back to when Kartel was making a name for himself, back when it seemed that every riddim Don Corleone produced was mad specifically for Kartel. The riddim which introduced the world to the Gaza Boss was the Krazy Riddim with his breakout hit “New Millenium” featuring Wayne Marshall. Now Kartel and Wayne both appeared on another tune over the Krazy Riddim called “Why You Doing It” which was often played back to back that many believed it was all one song. He may be a few shades lighter but the lyrics was always there – Tune After The Jump…  (more…)
