    New Artist With Soulful Hip Hop and Conscious Reverberations

    Saba Jenga is an ambitious woman who left her hometown in Richmond, Virginia to pursue a career in music. She was determined to hone her craft with an educational foundation in New York City. She won the 2012 “Walk This Way Award” for Best MC at St. John’s University and following this she matriculated into the New York University, Clive Davis Institute of Recording Music. During her time of study, she coined a music style of her own called “Dirty Dub,” fusing various genres of music including dub, dubstep, reggae, trap and gogo. Saba Jenga evokes the “black girl magic” ensconced  in a world with a European standard of beauty and oppression of minorities; through a culmination of cultures and sounds.     BK Field Marshall Reveals Details On His Third Studio Album
    The Guyanese-born, Brooklyn-bred, Grammy-nominated songwriter Jahdan Blakkamoore has just revealed all the details about his third studio album. Order of Distinction is set to be released on the Lustre Kings Productions label on March 25th. The album features guest spots by Lutan Fyah, Pressure Busspipe, Kabaka Pyramid, and Illuminati Congo, to name a few.  Following the high-energy track “Ting Tun Up,” the official first single will be a lovers rock selection, “Smooth Black Skin.” The follow-up to Mr. Blakkamoore’s 2010 Lustre Kings release, Babylon Nightmare, Distinction features mainly production by Paper Stars, the production and writing duo forged between Jahdan Blakkamoore and Andrew Moon Bain (Lustre Kings) after years of prolific practice in the studio and receiving a Grammy nod in 2013 for Major’s Lazer’s & Snoop Dogg’s, Snoop Lion Reincarnated.     Rodigan Invites A Few Friends Over to Get Things Poppin’ in LondonTown

    Vauxhall’s Fire was burnin’ up last Friday night as David Rodigan played host to his annual RamJam Xmas bash. The lineup of DJs and artists included some of the names that have paved the way for the UK underground scene from yesterday until tomorrow and beyond. The crowd went crazy to a mixture of music that has been the soundtrack of the London streets over the past few years—including jungle, DnB, reggae,  dancehall & dubstep and everything in between. Jungle masters Congo Natty were on great form, set the night alight with their selections. They started their set with Bob Marley’s acoustic “Redemption Song,” and trust & believe that was the calm before the storm ahead as they launched into a mix of jungle & DnB classics. UK dancehall artist Stylo G stepped onto stage and got the room singing to “Call Me a Yardie” and  “Soundbwoy”—they even knew the lyrics to his new tune “Move Back.” David Rodigan dropped bombs throughout his set—the man’s collection of dubplates has been next level for years, but then he dropped a brand new exclusive dub for Cham and Damian Marley’s first ever combination, a thing called “Fighter.” By the time Shy FX hit the decks the room was in a frenzy. The “Original Nuttah” producer went in on his  classics and brought along some nice reggae mixes with Gyptian’s “Hold Yuh” and Chaka Demus and Pliers “Murder She Wrote.” Liam Bailey also touched the stage to perform his latest track produced by Shy FX, “Soon Come.” Video After The Jump… (more…)

Datis—serves as a reminder that there are forces within us that are even more powerful than the economic pressures afflicting the whole world—if only we can tap into them. A Native American shaman in the suburbs beats the medicine drums and helps a young brave connect with the spirit world, striking fear into the hearts of greedy real estate developers. This video has a surreal, thought-provoking quality that ups the song’s artistic ante. Plus the special effects are sure to look really cool when you’re baked. What more could you ask for?     Keyboard Master Touter Harvey Drops A Dubstep Update of The Jackie Mittoo Classic “Drum Song”

    “Reggae influence a lot of music,” says Bernard “Touter” Harvey, and he should know. He’s played on classic cuts by Bob Marley and Inner Circle, among others. “Look at it this way, reggae have many babies. A man say in Jamaica you have the roots. Every tree have to have roots and it have to have branches. And from branches, sometimes you get seeds. Sometimes even the root push out another plant or a baby plant.” One of the  new musical babies would be dubstep. “Where we used to have dub, now we have drum and bass and dubstep.” The good people at Dubshot Records have teamed with Inner Circle to produce Dub Planet X, a tribute to Jackie Mittoo, reworking some of his classic compositions inna “Steppin Dub” stylee.
