  • Toots Files $21 Million Lawsuit Against Bottle-Throwing Suspect

Toots Is Not About To Let This Outrageous Incident Slide

gty_toots_hibbert_and_the_maytals_jt_130519_msJamaican music legend Frederick “Toots” Hibbert of Toots and the Maytals fame has  filed a $21 million lawsuit in the bottle-throwing incident that took place during Toots’ performance at the Dominion Riverrock Festival on May 18th. Toots was in the middle of his set when he was hit in the head with a vodka bottle thrown by 19-year-old William Connor Lewis. The drunken moron was seen near the stage drinking out of the vodka bottle before he threw it causing a laceration to Toots’ forehead and face. Toots immediately and walked off the stage and did not return. He was forced to cancel the rest of his tour and return to Jamaica to recuperate from his injuries.

Toots is suing Lewis for $1 million in compensatory damages and $20 million in punitive damages. The singer is stated to be in extreme emotional distress and the wound on his face has caused permanent scarring. On top of being sued, Lewis faces a felony charge of malicious wounding and has also been let go from Radford University. Though his lawyer states that Lewis is “very remorseful,” Toots has no plans to drop the lawsuit. Check out the video of the incident after the jump… (more…)

On Monday, officials at Kingston’s Home Circuit Court placed another postponement on Vybz Kartel’s trial date—the second one put into effect since last November. • WATCH THIS: Spice Interview “She Can’t Style Me, Lyrically or Physically”

The Mad Gyal Goes OnStage With Winford Williams To Talk Di Tings Dem

The Dancehall girl fight continues to escalate as Spice visits OnStage with Winford Williams, the same show where Macka Diamond recently vented frustration against various female artists including Lady Saw and another whom she would refer to only as “the black one.” (UPDATE: Macka has even released a diss song called “Kill the Black One.”) Though she says she considers herself “Black and beautiful,” Spice made no attempt to hide her annoyance with Macka. “Me haffi box her down, jook out her eye, and nearly take out the eye outta her head,” Spice recalled of a physical confrontation between the artists some years back. Though the guys get most of the attention with their so-called beef and lyrical clashes, Spice says the dancehall divas have some serious rivalries of their own: “The women dem inna the business, them fight ‘gainst them one another. It come in like crab inna barrel. If you put on a nail polish, and it look better than fi her own, them wan’ chop off your fingers fe it.” Wow. Spice goes on to recall her falling out with Lady Saw. But she says her and Tifa’s song “Why You Mad” was not written for anyone in particular. Well, not anyone that she cares to mention at the moment. Video After The Jump… (more…)

  • Gunmen Rob Khago; Did Friends Sell Him Out?

Khago Strives To Remain Positive, But Questions Linger

You would think that being robbed at gunpoint would scare someone into hiding but for Reggae/Dancehall star Khago, it has had the exact opposite effect on him. He and members of his team were recently held up while working at Khago’s unfinished home in Mandeville, Jamaica. Though the gunmen didn’t get anything major but cellphones and a bicycle, the incident in itself was disturbing. Ironically the singer who shot to fame by singing “Nah Sell Out Me Friend Dem” suspects that the robbery may have been set up by some associates of his. Although he feels violated, he is trying to stay focused on his plans to finish his house and keep creating more music.  Check out Khago’s thoughts on the robbery below.
