HEAR THIS: Kelissa ft. Chronixx “Winna”

Kelissa alongside Chronixx makes for a winning combination

Your two favorite reggae revival vocalists Kelissa and Chronixx team up to present a brand new single called “Winna”. Just in time for the summer, this motivational music brings purpose to the mundane, giving listeners a reason to get up, get out, and go get the day started. The smooth introduction crescendos into a full-force pop beat as Kelissa starts off “Good morning Mr. Obstacle, how ya doing today?” Chronixx isn’t too far behind as he responds with “If I am living…” and Kelissa completes the thought: “Live It Up!” Audio After The Jump… (more…)

WATCH THIS: Tommy Lee Sparta “Dream (Don’t Ramp With Me BC Food)” Official Music Video

Uncle Demon Had a Dream Last Night… Are You Afraid Yet?

If there’s one thing Tommy Lee Sparta understands it’s the power of strong visuals. His latest video, which dropped on Vevo today, is on point as usual. Whether or not you dig the whole demon-thug steez, you can’t front on the man’s CGI effects or the tatted-up seminude models. And if you do he’ll just sick his dogs with the Skeletor masks on you anyway. So stop hating and enjoy the show. What about that dream? Don’t worry—he was just swimming in money and chilling with Jesus Christ. No big deal… Video After The Jump… (more…)

Preview Papi’s Full LP Before You Head Over To iTunes & Support Di Ting

“Popcaan is something of an unlikely hero in the world of dancehall,” writes National Public Radio’s Natalie Wiener of the Jamaican star, whose debut album got a big boost from America’s offiicial government broadcast. “He grew up in the Jamaican projects without becoming a hard-edged “rude boy.” And he’s neither crooner nor spitfire MC — instead, he stands happily between those extremes. The deejay’s debut album, Where We Come From, is equal parts dancefloor anthems and “conscious” tunes about Jamaican life, unified by breezy, fresh production from Brooklyn’s Dre Skull. He’s known to family and fans alike as the “Unruly Boss,” not so much for bad behavior as for a fierce independent streak, manifest in his idiosyncratic vernacular, style and music. DJ Frass New “Gwaan Bad” Riddim A Murda, But This Gully Gad Tune Is So Special

“Cut dem off yuh fi cut dem off,” sings Mavado on this brand-new selection off DJ Frass’s crazy new juggling, the Gwaan Bad riddim—reminiscent of certain classic Dave Kelly beats from the 90s. The riddim features new songs from Buju Banton (!), Vybz Kartel, Lady Saw, Elephant Man, and nuff more artists. All of dem bad, but this new Gully Gad selection is extra special. Sounds like singa has a lot on his mind right about now. “From badmind can’t stop yuh, yuh special too.” Audio After The Jump… (more…)

HEAR THIS: Ricky Blaze’s “Uptown Julie” Riddim

BK Trancehall Innovator Drops a Sexy New Juggling To Hot Up Your  Summer

Every so often the trap door on Ricky Blaze‘s basement studio in East Flatbush Brooklyn bursts open and the artist, producer, and trancehall innovator emerges amidst a cloud of smoke to bless us all with another banger. This is one of those days. FME Records’ “Uptown Julie” riddim is a compact juggling, comprising four songs—”Stunta” by Gyptian, “Endless Summer” by Kes Dieffenthaller of Kes The Band fame, “Sell Off” by Zoelah, and “All I Need” by Mr. Blaze himself—each of which rocks in its own special way, revealing essential aspects each artist’s personality. In the hands of a skilled selector, these tracks mesh to form an irresistible and never-ending soundscape. Like most great dancehall cuts—and all of Blaze’s -catalog—the riddim itself is deceptively simple: a gentle keyboard chord progression floats above the kind of pulse-pounding drum pattern that sets bodies into motion, starting with a head nod and quickly spreading to shoulders and hips. In short, Julie represents just what every summer needs: a feel-good party groove perfect for pool parties, cookouts, and sweaty late-night wining sessions—and maybe, just maybe, the soundtrack to a new romance. Summer just got a likkle bit hotter. No wonder his name is Ricky Blaze.   Audio After The Jump… (more…)

Brand New Exclusive Preview Of The My Journey Album

I-Octane has described his forthcoming album My Journey as an evolution towards a more rootical approach to the music. The dreadlocked dancehall singjay’s music has always exercised a certain level of consciousness in terms of lyrical content and sheer songwriting ability, the rhythm tracks and production favored a digital dancehall style over traditional live drum and bass reggae tracks. On this exclusive pre-release Octane brandishes his lyrical sword atop a warm and easy DJ Frass production that bridges the gap between new and classic. If this is any indication My Journey—which will be released Tuesday on independent Reggae imprint, Tads Records—is a journey we can’t wait to begin. Ninja Man has been keeping himself very busy this year and seized every opportunity to remind DJs who is the baddest in the business. The airwaves still haven’t cooled off from the Don Gorgan’s last lyrical outing “Ninja Mi Ninja” (peep the video below) now today we get another tune cementing how bad Ninja really is, the appropriately titled “Badman Law.” Up to his usual tricks Ninja chats with his signature braggadocious flair even managing to give the Worlboss a shout out with:

“Me Mek Kartel Wear Brand In There, So All Gaza Fans Gwan Hang In There.”

One thing is clear, Ninja Man hasn’t fallen off, and the rate he is going he’ll probably lay down his life before he lets anyone beat him in a clash. Run Tune After The Jump… (more…)
