  • HEAR THIS: Snoop Lion Ft. Cori B & Drake “No Guns Allowed”

Snoop Enlists His Daughter Cori B And Drake As They Plead For An End to The Gunplay snoop

Having previewed this track Last week on the Conan O’Brien Show, big Snoop Lion drops the next single off his Reincarnated album entitled “No Guns Allowed,” which Snoop has repeatedly called his favorite on the album. It’s certainly a departure from Snoop Dogg’s “187 on an undercover cop” days.  The track is a plea for the removal of guns due to the increased, senseless killings of innocents especially children. To further drive home the seriousness of the song Snoop recruits his own daughter Cori B whose voice provides the perfect backdrop for Drake’s heartfelt verse, which was apparently inspired by a 2012 shooting in Toronto that left two dead and dozens injured. Snoop Lion, Major Lazer & Mavado Mash Up Viceland at SXSW

Last week at SXSW, Snoop Dogg made history as he headlined Cashmere Agency’s “LIONFEST: A celebration of Reincarnated” at VICELAND, performing for the first time as Snoop Lion. In front of 2,000 fans, Snoop showed off his new reggae/dancehall repertoire, delivering songs like “So Long,” “La La La,” “No Guns Allowed,” and “Lighters Up,” from his forthcoming Reincarnated album (set for an April 23 release on RCA / Sony). There’s also a free app for the Reincarnated album that you can download now. Diplo & Major Lazer were also on the bill, getting the crowd hyped by tossing confetti, stage diving and crowd surfing in a plastic bubble. Shortly after Major Lazer, the Gully God himself took the stage to perform a set of his hits, but don’t vex cause you weren’t there—the Boomshots massive gets the live footage first so hit the jump right away. Video After The Jump… (more…)

  • HEAR THIS: Kendrick Lamar ft. Jay-Z “Bitch Don’t Kill My Vibe” Remix

Brooklyn and Compton Together, Now You Know You In Trouble
    BDKMVRMXboomshots
OK so… the same day Mrs. Carter tells the world to “Bow Down,” Jay and Kendrick decide to roll out this official BDKMB RMX? Overkill? You bet. Too much ain’t enough, apparently. “Lookin’ to be the God MC,” K-Dot rhymes, “Look at my hat and see thorns there. Look at the game and see porn there.” Yeah Kendrick fucks with it hard. And Jay does what he does, presenting his verse from the Bombardier Challenger 850 that B gave him for Father’s Day. “Up in the clouds, me and my spouse.” And yeah that turbulence in the air might just be a touch of competitive juices flowing. Peep the Jordan and Kobe cover art then judge for yourself. Audio After The Jump… (more…)

French Montana and Nicki inna Dancehall Styleefrench

Lil’ Vicious said it best, “Some gyal a freak a di week,” and French Montana with the help of the ever so seductive Nicki Minaj reminds us with French’s latest cut aptly titled “Freaks.” What makes this cut special (other than Nicki’s outfit or lack there of) is that it samples not one but two of dancehall’s most renowned tunes, “Murder She Wrote” from Chaka Demus and Pliers and obviously “Freak” from Lil’ Vicious which producer Rico Love combines into one hot track. A$AP Rocky, 50 Cent, Busta Rhymes & More Turn Out To See Snoop “Reincarnated”

Snoop Lion Hits 106 & Park Then Invites a Few Friends Over To Check Out His New Movie

This past Thursday Snoop traveled to NYC to appear on BET’s 106 & Park and then host a private screening of his movie Reincarnated. Snoop may be into a new sound but hip-hop heavyweights like 50, Busta, and Rocky still count him as one of their own. The stars came out to eat some popcorn, sip some ginger beer, and watch the story of Snoop’s journey to Jamaica and his transition to reggae music. Would have been nice to see some more natty dreads in the place, but they were definitely represented on the silver screen. Video And Photo Gallery After The Jump…

  • WATCH THIS: ZJ Wah Wa & Wasp “Clique (Str8 Up World)” Official Video

Wasp Stings Up Hit-Boy’s “Clique” Beat On The Madboss’s New Mixtape
    Wasp2Boom

Wasp is one of those artists who’s been doing his thing long enough to have a few hits under his belt and a little bit of buzz—yet somehow his crazy skills still go unappreciated. But sometimes a great mixtape freestyle can fix a problem like that. Check out the way Wasp deals with the “Clique” beat—”The one with the curve dem me ah observe them”—on this cut from DJ Wah Wa’s new mixtape Str8 Up World. Wasp is not the first to say “me flow ah de baddest,” but he may just have a point. It’s an eye-opener to witness an undeground dancehall artist ripping up a G.O.O.D. Music track as well as or better than Big Sean, Jay-Z or Kanye. If I had a tune this hot on my hard drive, I’d call The Untouchable Dancers and director Icey Jace to shoot a video too. Two questions: What is up with Wah Wa’s space alien motorcycle helmet? And what’s that thing Wasp puts into his boombox? A cassette!?! Video After The Jump… (more…)

  • HEAR THIS: Christopher Martin ft. Jim Jones “Cheaters Prayer” (Official Remix)

The Capo Spits Game Over ZJ Chrome’s Cardiac Strings Riddim… While Chris Prays For Strength
    ChrisMartinJimJonesBoom

The power of “Cheaters Prayer” doesn’t just flow from its soaring melody and ZJ Chrome’s bubbling “Cardiac Strings” riddim, The song’s real magic lies in the delicate balance of the singer’s presumed innocence and his player tendencies. Is the guy really praying for strength or is he using God as an excuse for his wayward ways? That balance gets thrown into a whole new light on this new remix featuring Jim Jones. This isn’t one of those cut and splice mashup jobs, this is an official remix. The Dipset Capo’s hard-boiled Harlem game makes Martin’s lyrics sound even more innocent, but his stunts are brazen that ladies are going to view the whole argument with even more skepticism than normal. Unless it’s true that girls love the bad boys, in which case it’s all good.   Audio After The Jump…

  • WATCH THIS: Pusha T ft. Popcaan & Travis Scott “Blocka” Official Video

Live From Matches Lane, It’s The Wrath of Caine

Lots of rappers go to Jamaica to shoot videos. Very few go deep in the heart of Western Kingston like Pusha T did on this one. All the way live from Matthews Matches Lane, the PNP garrison where Zekes once ruled the scheme, Pusha kicks his ghetto metaphysics surrounded by bandana-faced bravehearts with chrome shotties. The gritty visual aesthetic is in keeping with previous Clipse and Pusha videos, only it’s transported to one of the most notorious blocks on Jamrock. Sure woulda been nice to hear more Popcaan on this track, but if Hotskull’s not already working on his own remix somebody needs to get him an instrumental like yesterday. Video After The Jump…
