    First Riddim Salut Jamaica in New York

    On Sunday, February 10, deejays, clothing designers, artists, media personalities and dancers headed over to Lover’s Rock New York, for the highly anticipated, Riddim Salut Jamaica. Despite the threats of a snowstorm, the crowd was eager to experience this new event in the New York City area, which simultaneously honored the King of Reggae Bob Marley. Unlike other tributes, the focus was sound system culture.  The featured deejays, Yaadcore and Fiyah Yout (of Fifty Kaliba Sound) selected tracks from Bob Marley and the best of the best in reggae and dancehall music.     New Kingston and Friends Bob Marley Tribute

    New Kingston and Friends Pay Tribute to Bob Marley at SOB’s

    On February 6, New York City music fans received a special treat. Before embarking on a “Rock 2 Roots Tour,” New Kingston headlined a Bob Marley Tribute Concert at SOBs. The band that independently released their debut album “In The Streets,” in 2011, now headlines at this legendary venue recurrently, and was filled with excitement for this special tribute. New Kingston released their sophomore album “Kingston University” with Ineffable Records in 2013. Their consecutive albums, “Kingston City” and “A Kingston Story: Come From Far,” were released by the record label, the group is currently signed to, Easy Star Records. Michael Goldwasser, Director of A&R at Easy Star Records and staff were in the building to show their full support, for one of New York’s most beloved family band. More After The Jump

    The Rockhouse Foundation and Third World Raise One Third of A Million Dollars for the Children of Jamaica, in One Night!

    The Rockhouse Foundation Works To Build An Inclusive Educational Community in Negril
    On Tuesday, October 30, 2018, Rockhouse Foundation hosted the foundation’s 14th annual dinner to raise money for its beneficiary, the children of Jamaica. The Foundation to date raised $4.5 million U.S.D to fund projects to improve education in Negril. Most notable is the renovations of six schools (including Negril All Age School, Negril Basic School, Little Bay All Age School, Moreland Hill Primary and the Bunch of Stars E.C.I.) and the Negril Community Library. The Foundation’s most recent endeavor encompassed the building of a new school, Savanna-La-Mar Inclusive Infant Academy (SIIA). The later, contains an inclusive curriculum, offering educational opportunities for children with disabilities. Building a community that is inclusive for all children, lies at the heart of the Rockhouse Foundation’s mission. More After The Jump

    “Alpha Lion” Jason Panton Hosts a new Reggae, Dancehall, R&B Event

    Co-Founder of Dubwise Jamaica (along w/ International selector Yaadcore and Reggae/Hip Hop Artist, Protoje) and innovator in music, fashion and art, Jason Panton held a toe-to-toe, bursting-at-the-seams, “Hold Tight New York City” event at Lover’s Rock this past Saturday, September 29. The Nova Southeastern University alumnus has mastered the skill of showcasing talent and hosting cultural events. With Dubwise sessions in California, Miami, Trinidad and Tobago and New York,  Panton is also a selector himself with an ear for emerging talent. Panton held an event in New York for his birthday, with a mix of musical genres including reggae, dancehall and rhythm and blues. We caught up with him to not only to congratulate him but also to find out more about the cultivation of this successful event. Interview After The Jump
