Konshen’s  incendiary hit “Bruk Off Yuh Back” on the Moskato riddim produced by Christopher Birch, begins:  “Wah dis make you feel like do? / Wah dis make you feel like do? / Wah dis make you?     Brooklyn’s Finest Rapper Continues to Live On Through His Powerful Lyrics

    March 9, 2017, marked the 20th anniversary of Christopher Wallace, Notorious B.I.G.’s murder in Los Angeles, California. He was only 24 years old and at the height of his career, when he lost his life. His murder remains a cold case despite the $50,000 award for any leads in the case. However, Notorious B.I.G. ‘s musical anthology continues to inspire generations born during and after his time. A quote from one of his inspiring tunes (below) trended across social media as fans new and old, commemorated the life of this music legend. The surge of quotes came after Puff Daddy put out a tweet, requesting that fans remember his friend by posting their favorite Biggie quotes. The most admired quote was from “Sky’s The Limit,” released in 1997. This song features the R&B group 112 and comes from the album entitled, “Life After Death Album.” This Friday, we reflect on the lyrics of this classic B.I.G. song and the quote from the last line of the song which touched so many.

    Jahkoy Pamer was born in Toronto, so even though his music gets filed uner “R&B/Hip Hop” he’s got a touch of the Caribbean vibes in there too. (Maybe that’s what he means by the name Bipolar Sound?) His sunny “Still in Love” video had us feeling some type of way, but it wasn’t till he dropped “Wine” that the Def Jam signee crossed into the Boomshots zone. The rock steady drum pattern sets things up so lovely that when the skanking reggae break comes, it comes as no surprise. By that point his invitation to wine is mere formality.     Jah Cure’s third studio album, The Cure (VP records), holds steady at the number 1 spot on the Billboard Top Reggae Album Chart, for one month since its release on July 10.  On this new album Jah Cure’s superb vocals are presented with multiple lyrical themes. In addition, Jah Cure said he worked hard to step up the production on this album, in an effort to improve the quality of his overall sound.  He provided a creative platform for up and coming producers like Justin “Jus Bus” Nation, Llamar “Riff Raff” Brown, Christopher “Sketch” Carey and Trevor “Baby G” Washington. He also sought the expertise of  top of the line producer, Maurice “Clive” Hunt.

    Gyppy’s Latest Album Debuted At No. 1 on Billboard’s Reggae Chart

    The night before Gyptian released his latest album Sex, Love & Reggae he spent the evening celebrating his 30th birthday with Rob Kenner on Radio Lily. After the webcast Gyppy and an entourage of his  friends, including Bascom X,  Fyakin, Khago and Danielle D.I. rolled over to the legendary SOB‘s to continue  the celebration at the highly anticipated, SOB’s Reggae Music Fest, presented by Tree Reid Promotions. NYC’s renowned selector DJ Stranger,  X-Caliber Sound warmed up the crowd  awaiting their arrival. Next up, the extraordinary  Derrick Barnett (founder and former bassist for the legendary Jamaican band Sagittarius ) and his Statement Band including Raymond Stewart on  keyboards, Andy Bassford on guitar and Damian Martellie on drums, excited the crowd with an electrifying live session.
