His newest single, “Caribbean Girls,” on JA Productions’ Overtime riddim, is one of the standout cuts on Mavado’s latest mixtape, So Suicidal, which dropped earlier this month.     The Mighty Snoop Lion Unleashes His First Music Video
    Yesterday, Snoop Lion released the official music video for “La La La,” the first single from his forthcoming album Reincarnated—which of course Snoop first discussed on the Strictly Boomshots show. Snoop teamed up with acclaimed horror film director Eli Roth to create a fun, Halloween-inspired music video filled with kids in Halloween costumes and imaginative scenery. But Drake has requested something much more meaningful to him. The rapper took to his Twitter account and stated that when he gets married it would have to be to a Beres Hammond song.     Buju Reaches Out to His Fans In His Hour Of Need

    It has been a long, hard struggle for Buju Banton the last couple of years. Since December of 2009 he has been fighting a battle at trial that some say he was bound to lose even when the jury had his back. But Buju is trying to stay positive and push forward through the long stretch he has ahead of him until 2019, when he is set to be released. Just as the news broke that his sentencing on gun charges had been postponed, Buju decided to reach out to his friends and fans via the “Free Buju Now” Twitter Page and give them a little strength. Read Buju’s message below.

Between releasing his 8th studio album, Sweet Jamaica, and finding out that his wife had cheated on him, Mr. Vegas has been on a complete roller coaster ride. But the trials and tribulations of his failed marriage has not held him back from speaking out in a positive manner and continuing the promotion of his album that was released in honor of the 50th Anniversary of Reggae and the Jamaican independence. Winford Williams invited Mr. Vegas to sit down “OnStage”  and discuss the situation with his wife, his daughter and the new album. But now he’s back with an outernational tune so large and heavy it’s sponsored by Chevy—and MTV Iggy, so it must be a biggie.     A Tribute to Captain Barkey—Gone But Not Forgotten

    One of the most under-rated duos in the dancehall business, Captain Barkey and Wickerman are veteran entertainers who could always be counted on to deliver powerful tunes year in and year out. And of course now that we can’t see them live anymore, folks seem to have a newfound appreciation for their talents. (As the old saying goes, you never miss your water till the well runs dry.) Since Barkey’s tragic murder last weekend, the whole dancehall diaspora has been plunged into mourning and sadness with everybody asking “Why?” but nobody moreso than his longtime sparring partner Wickerman. Last night Wicker was locked up inside Kingston’s Truckback Studios putting the finished touhes on this heartfelt tribute to his bredren. Boomshots presents it with deep condolences to all Barkey’s friends, family, and fans. Anybody who’s lost somebody will be able to relate to this one. Audio after the jump…
