    Brooklyn We Go Hard

From Port of Spain in Trinidad to Notting Hill in London, Carnival is a worldwide phenomenon. We all need a time and place to get on bad, right? Of course every city has their own unique way of wilding out—but you already know nobody goes harder than Brooklyn USA. You’ve got zombies and stilt walkers and bugged out Brooklynites and hot girls in their barely theres as Grand Marshalls Harry Belafonte and Machel Montano rub shoulders with Andrew Cuomo and police commissioner Ray Kelly. Unfortunately this year’s event was marred by violence—with two people stabbed to death and two others wounded by gunfire. Despite those tragedies, the rest of us had a great time. Marlon “Ajamu” Myrie has been shooting (with a camera) on Eastern Parkway for years, and he’s not only got an artist’s eye, he’s got a special gift for charming the ladies, as you’ll notice in this massive 2012 gallery. Photo Gallery after the jump.

  • WATCH THIS: Beenie Man “Hot Like Fire” Video

The Doctor Has Plenty Of Patients Who Need Treatment

When Beenie talks, the girls listen—and then they start with the nonstop wining. Want proof? Just check out this video for his tune on the big bad Loudspeaker riddim. Mixpak productions pulled out all the stops on this one, hiring some of the hottest dancers on the island—from the inimitable Mystic Davis to Carline Brown, Remeisha Richards, Shanique Williams, Ashleigh Martin, and Latoya Malcolm. Their wardrobe and styling is crazy and the high-def cinematography is off the chain. You’ve got to see this one to believe it. It’s all about the girls.

  • HEAR THIS: Patra ft. Delus “Come Ova”

The Queen Of The Pack Is Back—And Well Slack!

Maddest combination we’ve heard in a minute. Patra dials up Delus—aka the brother of Konshens—and tells him she’s in need of his full attention. (Damn—some guys have all the luck.) It’s good to know Patra’s back in the mix. We’ve been feeling Patra since she was Lady Patra, straight through to her “Queen of the Pack” days. And not just because of all the “wuk” she put in to push dancehall into worldwide pop culture. Something about that husky voice and, of course, the whining skill just gets us every time.

  • HEAR THIS: Vybz Kartel & Gaza Slim ”Marry & Done” / ”F*ck it & Cum’

Dancehall Bonnie & Clyde Flip It Two Ways On The Coolie Gal Riddim

No pre-nups, pretty outfits, or rings and tings. Kartel is getting down, dirty and romantic with his Soulja Girl on the Coolie Gal riddim! They might be dancehall’s most notorious pair-up, but The Werl Boss & Gaza’s own Slim are tearing up the new coolie Gal riddim in more ways than one.

You already know the Werlboss does his thing different, so of course he dropped a raw edit and a radio edit with completely different lyrics. Which one you prefer says a lot about you—but in the long run, maybe they both climax to the same thing?

Cupid’s bow is about to shoot something—if it’s wedding bells it’s “Married and Done.” If it’s somefing else, then flick the switch and it’s “F*ck it & Cum.” Whichever comes first there’s always a chance one may lead to the other, right?

As for Kartel & Slim—who reps so hard for Kartel she even did time for the Werlboss—they say behind every great man… Well, you know the rest!
