WATCH THIS: Shenseea “Jiggle Jiggle” Official Music Video

Debut Video From Dancehall’s New Girl On The Block

Brandishing a criss baseball bat customized with her Twitter handle, Shenseea and a crew of twerktastic dancing girls take over an automobile scrapyard and basically wreck shit. That’s the plot summary for “Jiggle Jiggle,” the latest addition to the burgeoning subgenre of bruk-out dancehall videos. And so what if it’s not all that different from other booty videos? As a wise man once said, “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”—or, in this case, smash it with a baseball bat. An RD Studios production, “Jiggle Jiggle” is Shenseea’s first music video, a visual interpretation of the likkle-but-tallawah young artist’s breakout hit, produced by Romeich Entertainment and distributed by 21st Hapilos. Shenseea stands out from most of the other tough-talking dancehall damsels through sheer intensity. “Me lyrically bad!” she asserted in a recent IG post. “Yeah me lyrics dem EXPLICIT, Punch lines so refine like the sand when u sieve it.” So when she says “Keep up!” you’d better believe she’s not just talking to her lover. Breaking down the walls of musical and cultural apartheid, these eclectic artists—who share a love and respect for reggae while remaining open to all inspiration— joined forces to create a new project free of all self-imposed boundaries, written and recorded in JA with worldwide talents like Shane Brown and Clay in the mix. “Wonder what the world will bring tomorrow?” sings Gentleman on the track, visually interpreted by director Noël Dernesch for It’s Us Media.. “Will it be joy, will it be sorrow?” Ky-Mani offers no easy answers but puts the conversation in broader context. “The world is on the verge of change when nothing stays the same. But if by chance you find it strange. It’s just a part of what’s ordained.” Audio After The Jump… (more…)

Kick Out Yuh Foot: Assassin x Sam Spiegel x Ape Drums x Kenzo World “Mutant Brain” Ad Goes Viral

Margaret Qualley Wilds Out To Agent Sasco Inna Parfum Commercial

O.G. video director Spike Jonze has a long history with The Beastie Boys, whose appreciation for Jamaican music is well known. No surprise then that Jonze’s ad spot for “KENZO World,” a new fragrance (ahem, make that “Parfum”) created by Carol Lim & Humberto Leon, is powered by the maad vibes of dancehall star Agent Sasco aka Assassin. In the commercial, Margaret Qualley, who plays Jill Garvey on the HBO television series, The Leftovers, excuses herself from a fancy award ceremony and starts bugging out to the sounds of a wicked dancehall-dubstep fusion track called “Mutant Brain.” Don’t worry dancehall queens. The HBO star is not exactly ready for Weddy Weddy. When she isn’t kicking out her foot to Sasco’s flow, she’s uncontrollably licking statues and generally acting crazy, not unlike Darryl Hannah’s malfunctioning android sexbot in Blade Runner. The track was produced by Jonze’s brother, Sam Spiegel, in collaboration with Major Lazer affiliate Ape Drums. Spiegel and Jonze have collaborated on TV ads before, including the Adidas TV commercial “Hello Tomorrow.” Spiegel also wrote the popular score for Jonze’s 2010 short film  I’m Here. WWD has now declared the KenzoWorld ad a “viral hit” so basically we’re saying Sasco has racked up another major look. Damian “Jr. Gong” Marley Speaks on the “Nail Pon Cross” Music Video Controversy

Judge Not, Lest Ye Shall Be Judged

After premiering as a Tidal exclusive, Damian Marley’s powerful new video, “Nail Pon Cross” appeared on his Vevo channel earlier this week, bringing the disturbing visuals to the whole wide world. Although it’s not the first music video to feature a crucifixion scene—Damian told Billboard that he was inspired by his friend Nas’s “Hate Me Now” video—there’s still something shocking about watching Bob Marley’s son have nails pounded through his wrists and left on a telephone pole to die. A still from the video posted online generated a flurry of negative comments, especially from Christians who were offended by what they considered a sacriligeous image. “It’s ironic, because I’m being crucified for being crucified,” he recently told the Huffington Post in response to the controversy. Boomshots caught up with Jr. Gong to get his views on the visuals. Video & Interview After The Jump… (more…)
