July 24 marks the three year anniversary of Gyptian’s “Hold Yuh,” his most recognized hit that has topped the Billboard, Canadian and UK charts since its release. Most recently, the single—produced by Brooklyn’s own Ricky Blaze—has been certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America and is being lauded as the first reggae record to hit the 500,000 sales mark in over a decade. Sean Paul and Damian Marley are noted as the only other Jamaican reggae artists whose singles have achieved gold status in the last 10 years. In response to crossing another milestone, Gyptian states “Give thanks to everyone who bought my record.
