U.S. Reggae OGs Link w Yesking To Dub It Inna Dry & Heavy Stylee
Two years after the release of their album Kings And Queens, NorthEast reggae rulers John Brown’s Body are back with KINGS AND QUEENS IN DUB on Easy Star Records. Inspired by classic dub discs like Burning Spear’s Garvey’s Ghost and Aswad’s New Chapter of Dub, the new release reprises the entire sequence from Kings And Queens mixed by a who’s who of dub champions including Ticklah, Dubmatix, Dubfader (of 10 Ft. Ganja Plant), UK legend Dennis Bovell, Yesking, Michael G (of Easy Star All-Stars), Lord Echo (of The Black Seeds), and more. Boomshots is proud to premiere the first track today. “We were introduced to Yesking by Easy Star founders Lem and Eric,” JBB saxophonist Drew Sayers told Boomshots. “From the very first track I heard I became a huge fan of his music and production style. We were keen on working with him because he seems to be cut from the same cloth as JBB: A really modern approach with fierce originality, but a deep and clear connection to the roots of this music. I love what he gets out of the drum and bass on this track- and he lets the bass line speak as the melody of the song. Elliot has always been able to write heavy bass lines that stand on their own as a melody. Being a saxophone player myself, I will selfishly state that the washed out horn breakdown before the steppers outro is one of my favorite moments on the whole album.” Run that….!
