PREMIERE: Queen Ifrica “Cease All War” Official Music Video

I Guess I’m Not The Only Who Would Like To See…

When Troyton Music released the Queen Ifrica song “Cease All War” this past January, it was clear—even amidst the deluge of new releases that flood our inboxes each day—that this one was special. The producer who made his name with Sean Paul’s worldwide smash “Gimme The Light” had shifted into a whole different vibe with a strong sense of purpose. The warm & easy riddim track was reminiscent of Luciano’s classic “Hands & Heart & Harmony” and with an artist like Queen Ifrica on the mic, it was no surprise that she came with that lyrical fire.  “Why are we fighting and killing each other off all of the time?” Queen asked passionately, even as her hometown of Montego Bay was locked down by a military curfew in response to an upsurge of crime and violence. The song struck a chord with listeners in Jamaica and beyond. Today we proudly premiere the visuals, helping to spread an important message to the world. Video After The Jump… (more…)

    Boomshots 420 Playlist (2018)

A Playlist with Smoking Hot Chalice Chunes

California was the first state to launch a program for the use of medical marijuana, with Proposition 215 in 1996. This was followed up with the groundbreaking Senate Bill 420 in 2003, to clarify the provisions for medical use and protect those with authorized medical prescriptions from criminalization. This gave way to the 420 movement that is celebrated on April 20 for cannabis culture. Now 29 states allow for the medical use of marijuana, while only 8 states (California, Nevada, Massachusetts, Maine, Florida, North Dakota, Arkansas and Montana) have legalized recreational use in the United States. On a Federal level, marijuana is illegal and viewed as a highly addictive Schedule I drug, with no therapeutic properties.

Reggae music, as a genre, has always produced music with a high level of consciousness and significant social commentary. Throughout the years, there have been many marijuana anthems promoting freedom of choice, which are highly revered by smokers and non-smokers of this plant. On this 420, also Earth Day we hope to take you on a natural musical and mystic high with the Boomshots 420 Playlist.  Boomshots 420 Playlist After The Jump…

Kabaka Pyramid Shows Why He Is Accurate About Matters of the Heart

Kabaka Pyramid carefully set the path for his musical career, by having a unique creativity combined with a command of knowledge. From onset, it was clear that this lyricist was here to make his mark, while spreading universal messages for social change and consideration. This was especially evident on his 2016 Mixtape Collaboration with Walshy Fire of Major Lazer, entitled, “Accurate.”

Today this versatile artist released the visual for his sensual song, “Kaught Up,” which features reggae chants, rhythm and blues vocals and authentic hip hop over the Genis Trani  Nadal beat. • Music Is A Mission: David Rodigan Speaks His Mind About Today’s Sound Clash Culture

    Music Is A Mission:
David Rodigan Speaks His Mind About Today’s Sound Clash Culture

Will Sir RamJam’s Recent Soundclash On The Sea Be His Last?

UK radio presenter David Rodigan has been described as the “outside world’s greatest ambassador of Jamaica’s musical heritage.” He’s been honored with an MBE by the Queen of England for his contributions to British broadcasting and recently published his memoirs, entitled My Life in Reggae —”the unlikely story of an Army sergeant’s son from the English countryside who has become the man who has taught the world about Reggae.” This year David Rodigan will be touring the globe once more to celebrate his 40th year in the business. He’s cut countless dubplates and won many clashes in his time, but had largely “walked away from clashing” prior to his participation in the recent Soundclash on the Sea during the 2017 Welcome To Jamrock Reggae Cruise. In this exclusive interview, Rodigan speaks to Boomshots about the roots of sound system culture, explains the difference between dub plates and specials, shares his thoughts on the true role of selectors and DJs within the reggae industry, reflects on whether modern clash culture has “spun out of control,” and speaks frankly about where he thinks the music that now inspires so much of the mainstream is heading.
