HEAR THIS: King Addies Presents Rodney Price AKA Bounty Killer Dubplate Mix

Addies Bad From Dem Time Till Now, Who Nuh Like It Defend It

The Biltmore Era is known as the Golden Era and most competitive period of the Sound Clash Industry extending from the late ’80s to 1996. Such clashes were kept in four major venues throughout New York City—Tilden Ballroom, Starlite Ballroom, Flamingo Ballroom and most importantly the Biltmore Ballroom. As the “Mecca” of the industry, the era contained many talented and entertaining sound systems all of which rightfully deserve their place in the history books. However, none has been more dominant and respected as King Addies. They were the sound that made upcoming selectors believe that you didn’t have to be a Jamaican based sound system to make it to the top of the industry. Of all the artists represented in their devastating dubplate collection, one loomed larger than all the others: The Warlord, a.k.a. Bounty Killer.  Audio After The Jump… (more…)

HEAR THIS: Schoolboy Q “Banger (Mosh Pit)”

Boom Shocka-Lock Boom Budy Bye Bye Bye

Kendrick Lamar of Tog Dawg Entertainment has already expressed his desire to musically murder all competition. Now his TDE bredren Schoolboy Q is back with a beat produced by tHe renegades and mixed By Ali that’s fit for soundbwoy killing. Q gets right in the mood, licking lyrical shots as the militant drum rolls crank up the tension. This is the hardest thing we’ve heard from SBQ yet, and he makes it perfectly clear that “that bullshit” can go down in any town. How’s that sound? Audio After The Jump…

Come To Think Of It, Is Hype Ever Necessary?

Bugle unleashes a tune on Cashflow Productions’ Better Way Riddim entitled “Unnecessary Hype.” As its title appropriately states, the tune deals with people’s tendency to overhype themselves over certain things. Money, cars, girls—all these things are unnecessary hype for Bugle. He only gets hype off of one thing: Jah. Tune After The Jump… (more…)

Who Says Gyptian Only Makes Love Songs

Known for his soulful voice, most would expect a Gyptian mixtape to be full of nothing but love songs or songs dedicated to women in general; not that there’s anything wrong with that. Love is a beautiful thing, and some would argue that music is “all about the girls.” On his just released “Sex, Love & Reggae” mix Gyptian makes sure to drop something for all reggae lovers, but the real treat is that Gyptian choose to pair his soothing voice over some classic riddims. Add this to your Hump Day playlist and thank us later. Stream And Download After The Jump… (more…)
