    Tropical Storm Stays Far, Roots Vibrations Catch A Fire At Queens Stage Show

    On Sunday, September 4, boom chunes reverberated from early afternoon across the pristine greens of Queens’ Roy Wilkins Park. It was Irie Jam Radio’s 23rd Anniversary and heavyweights were out in full force to celebrate. Though fallout from a tropical storm was supposed to drown out the festivities, Bobby Clarke and the Irie Jam family kept on “Holding Firm” and in the end the only thunder and lightning came from the line-up of roots rock reggae entertainers. The jewel in the crown of these royal revelries was the return of Sizzla Kalonji to the New York City stage.     Dancehall artist, Demarco, has been entertaining his fans for years with his  hit party tracks and his newest single, “Continue Whine,” will definitely have fans on the dance floor. The visual for “Continue Whine,” features some very lovely ladies competing in a rump shaking contest for, wait for it….a television. The video is quite funny and of course the dancing ladies will have your eyes glued to the screen.     Rototom Sunsplash, the biggest of all the European Reggae Festivals, will be taking place this Saturday, August 17th through Saturday, August 24th, in Spain. This year’s Rototom Sunsplash will be the 20th Love Edition and will feature performances by Damien Marley, Anthony B, Leroy Sibbles, Nneka, Richie Spice, U Roy, Third World, Wayne Marshall and many more. In addition to an unforgettable line-up, the festival will also feature the option for fans view the festival via live stream if they aren’t able to make it. Though live stream is is not as good as the real show, having the option to see your favorite Reggae artist perform is definitely a plus.     It has been quite some time since RDX has been at the number one spot. But that doesn’t mean they haven’t been working for it. The Dancehall group have been on the HYPE TV countdown for 16 weeks with their single, “Broad Out,” and moved to the top of the list a lot quicker than others have. RDX’s “Broad Out,” is the ultimate Dancehall video with a bumping beat, plenty of lovely, rump shaking ladies and of course, RDX’s catchy lyrics.     Anthony B. knows a thing or two about “Storms Winds,” no doubt. Performing the song at Brooklyn’s One Mic event last week was a moment of triumph. Along with a few band mates, the artist was arrested on ganja charges a few weeks back. His lawyer has since released a statement that they plan to fight these charges.     The Artist Maintains His Innocence And Plans to “Vigorously Fight”
    Anthony B-BOOMOn January 27th, the Dancehall artist, Anthony B, was charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute. The artist was on a tour and while traveling through Georgia, the artist’s tour bus was stopped and searched by police who found marijuana, leading to the arrest of Anthony B and others on the bus. Since then, many have been questioning what will happen with Anthony B since Georgia has extremely strict laws when it comes to drug possession. Anthony B’s attorney Mark Douglas Esq. has released a statement yesterday responding to the arrest and how his client plans to fight the charges against him. Read The Full Statement After The Jump…

    When it comes to living legends, nobody can test Neville Livingston a.k.a. Bunny Wailer. At age 62, Bunny’s the last man standing from the original Wailing Wailers trio that put reggae music on the map internationally. Jah B recently announced plans to offer his entire back catalog for online download in association with Zojak World Wide, and as part of the promotional push, he took time out to reason with Boomshots.com.
