WATCH THIS: Busy Signal Rips Sting 2012

The Hotthead Makes A Triumphant Return To The Stage

When Busy Signal took the stage at Jamworld for Sting 2012, the crowd was expecting something special. After all it was Busy’s first major stage show since returning home from a six-month bid in a Federal prison in the United States. So it was a safe best that the Hotthead would have a lot to get off his chest. But nobody was fully prepared for the phenomenal energy that Busy unleashed at Sting 2012. As fireworks lit up the night sky above Jamworld, Busy delivered an emotionally charged set that was both the performance of a lifetime and a harbinger of more greatness to come. After delivering his final tune Busy collected his Downsound Records Game Changer Award from the show’s co-producer, Joseph Bogdonovich. Then Busy checked Reshma B backstage to explain why he’s “living the Jamaican dream.” Video After The Jump…

  • Top 10 Ganja Legalization Tunes

Legalize It And I Will Advertise It

Why is Peter Tosh smiling? The ongoing struggle to repeal the prohibition of marijuana has inspired countless great records—and earlier this month it inspired a historic moment at the ballot box. Starting December 6 in the state of Washington and January 1 in Colorado, the dream of legal ganja will become a reality. Many questions remain: Will California be the next American state to free up the herbs? Will the Federal government sit back and let west coasters puff in peace? Will Jamaica ever embrace its number-one cash crop? While we ponder those issues, let’s take a look back at some of the greatest reggae songs ever sung in defense of ganja decriminalization. • WATCH THIS: RDX “Broad Out” Video

Did The Daggering Duo Really Shoot A Music Video With An iPhone?

The dancehall duo who brought you daggering anthems like “Bend Over” and “Daggering” are breaking new ground with their latest video. But don’t worry, they haven’t abandoned the winning formula of high-energy riddims, simple melodic hooks, and  hot girls skinning out in outrageous poses. If fact the “broads” in this video are busting crazier moves than ever. But what’s really different about the “Broad Out” video is that they shot the whole thing on an iPhone. Or at least that’s what they claim in the intro to the video. But they still need to explain who shot the shots of them shooting with the blasted iPhone. Oh well, the video still ah shot. (And make sure to watch for the “Too Hot For TV” teaser at the end) Video After The Jump…

  • INTERVIEW: Rayvon Still Going Strong, Getting That Cheddar

    The Ladies Love Sugar RayRay

Just last night in New York City Shaggy and Rayvon performed at the RockHouse Foundation benefit to raise funds for the education of Jamaica’s youth. They’ve been doing their thing since the late Eighties in good ol’ Brooklyn, where Rayvon and Shaggy  first linked as the ultimate dancehall duo, dropping hit after hit after hit along with the rest of the ‘Ruff Entry Crew.’ For decades since, Shaggy & Rayvon have been instrumental in showcasing dancehall across the globe. From their early hits, including the classic “Big Up“—which as far as we can tell was the first tune to popularize that universally recognized slang term—to the smooted-out jam  ‘In The Summertime‘ to the history-making international chart topper ‘Angel,’ these two have a natural chemistry. But Rayvon is also a solo star in his own right who shows no signs of slowing down.  Why should he?  We caught up with Rayvon recently and spoke about how he’s been stepping out on his own. From managing his very own production company, to touring and recording, Rayvon is focused and poised for even more success. After all, to whom much is given, much is required—don’t it? Interview after the jump. (more…)

Boys you’re in trouble tonight, cause we’re not talking “grind like you working for tips” we’re talking a shag like you’ve been owed. Leopard print underwear (of course), shaved chow-cha, and a whole heap of muscle control—”it full of function”—basically everyTING! Guys: set the clock and hang up the Do Not Disturb Sign. Girls: you don’t want to get those pretty pumps dirty, so resume the favourite position “Balance pon your head like a Dumpa Truck.” (Time to hit the gym!) And when it’s over Long C*cky Fren can Dweet again #FlipItAndReverseIt
