    The Dancehall Veteran, Author and Actress Reasons with Reshma B About Music, Money, Love & War

    Hours after her no-show at Sting 2012—where she was expected to clash Spice—Macka Diamond went straight to the studio to record a dis track called “Donkey.” Her next stop was an early morning interview with Reshma B for Boomshots. Macka explained to the ReggaeGirlAboutTown that she did not run from the clash and that Spice would have been “an easy kill.” In this epic four-part interview, Macka Diamond speaks on her earlier dis track “Kill The Black One,” and tries to clear up any misunderstanding about the lyrics. While Macka’s differences with Lady Saw are in the past, she says her war with Spice has just begun—and that her offer still stands to pay Spice for a clash at her upcoming birthday bash. But Macka has lots of other projects going on besides clashing. She talks about latest book for Page Turner Publishing, Naughty or Nice, the sequel to her successful debut novel Bun Him, and about her latest movie role.     Macka May Not Have Clashed Spice, But According To This Tune The War Has Just Begun

    They call New York the city that never sleeps, but they lie. Kingston JA is the town that really gets it popping 24/7-48/14. Less than 24 hours after Spice brought a donkey (dressed in a wig and leg warmers with tags attached) on the stage at Sting, Macka Diamond has cut a tune that speaks on the whole donkey issue and turns the war up a notch.

    At 6:30 this morning Macka dropped by Boomshots JA HQ to drop off the tune and have a little reasoning with The ReggaeGirlAboutTown about what really happened with her no-show at Sting and why she says the war is just beginning.     The Mad Gyal Goes OnStage With Winford Williams To Talk Di Tings Dem

    The Dancehall girl fight continues to escalate as Spice visits OnStage with Winford Williams, the same show where Macka Diamond recently vented frustration against various female artists including Lady Saw and another whom she would refer to only as “the black one.” (UPDATE: Macka has even released a diss song called “Kill the Black One.”) Though she says she considers herself “Black and beautiful,” Spice made no attempt to hide her annoyance with Macka. “Me haffi box her down, jook out her eye, and nearly take out the eye outta her head,” Spice recalled of a physical confrontation between the artists some years back. Though the guys get most of the attention with their so-called beef and lyrical clashes, Spice says the dancehall divas have some serious rivalries of their own: “The women dem inna the business, them fight ‘gainst them one another. It come in like crab inna barrel. If you put on a nail polish, and it look better than fi her own, them wan’ chop off your fingers fe it.” Wow. Spice goes on to recall her falling out with Lady Saw.     Minutes after firing up an impromptu lyrical clash with Diamond during her own performance, dancehall legend Ninjaman took a seat across from Winford Williams for an unscheduled but typically awesome interview. The front-teeth-gold-teeth-gun-pon-teen Don Gorgon has lyrically “killed” many opponents over the years, as he says: “I still rule and will forever rule.” After many years of musical experience under his belt and a pending murder charge, Ninjaman has decided to slow it down a bit and focus on building a new business venture, an entertainment complex called Central Park by White River in Ocho Rios—to stabilize his future.     Macka Diamond is one dangerous dancehall diva! The former Lady Mackerel has been shutting down dancehalls for quite some years now. But on her path to musical success, she has encountered some bumps in the road, including friction with top dancehall artist Lady Saw, who was officially crowned Queen of the Dancehall this summer. Macka says she tried to ignore Saw’s jabs because she thought they were friends and it wasn’t worth fussing over. But since Macka started speaking out about it, she has caused quite a fuss. In fact Lady Saw recently said she was getting out of the business because she can’t bother with the stress from other artists. Although she mentioned no names, many people she was speaking about Macka Diamond. Well Macka recently sat down with Winford Williams of OnStageTV to tell her side of the story.   • Is Lady Saw Getting Out Of The Game?

    Say It Ain’t So, Saw! 

    OMG! Is it really over for Lady Saw?!? They say “All Good Things Must Come To An End,” but we’re hoping this turns out to be one of those rumors that gets cleared up—fast!

    Sadly this news does seem to be coming straight from the Queen herself. In a recent radio interview Saw discussed the struggles of life in the dancehall business and specifically the difficulties that she’s had with other female artists. She also discusses her calling from the Almighty and plans for a gospel collaboration with Mavado. (Which actually sounds kinda hot, come to think of it.) But still, why quit now just when she was about to shoot the video for her big single “Heels On,” and with an album of the same name on the way?

    It’s not like Saw can’t mash up any dance, stage-show, or clash anytime she feels like it. Could this have anything to do with another recent interview in which Macka Diamond spoke of her issues with Lady Saw? It’s been no secret that Saw’s had her ups and downs with other females in the biz, including Spice & Tanya. But earlier this Summer, when Saw was crowned Queen of the Dancehall, she made a point of showing love for the other ladies in the business. How soon they forget. Interview After The Jump… (more…)
