    “Action” Star Is Taking It EZZ

    “It’s a woman’s empowerment song,” explains Nadine Sutherland of her latest release. “Basically, it’s saying Watch, listen and learn before you give your all.” Giving her all to reggae music since an early age, Sutherland signed with Bob Marley’s Tuff Gong label at a tender age and exploded to worldwide fame with her Dave Kelly–produced 1993 smash “Action.” Since that time she’s maintained her standing as one of Jamaica’s finest vocalists and also grown as a person. “I think as a grown woman I am hesitant to ‘fall in love’ or to give of myself as easily in  comparison to when I was younger,” she says of the song she cowrote, and whhose lyrics share the blessings of hard-learned life lessons. Today Boomshots proudly premieres the tune, produced by College Boyz and distributed by Zojak. “I guess I have become wiser because of having experiences with people who have ulterior agendas.     The Mad Gyal’s Fairy Godmother Hooks Her Up To Bruk Out

    Spice’s latest visuals are a dancehall Cinderella story, with one major difference: in the traditional fairy tale, Cinderalla uses a needle and thread to stitch herself a dress. In Spice’s version the needle eye has a whole different meaning. (Word to Shabba Ranks.) Just like in the Disney movie, those wicked stepsisters head out to the dance, leaving Spice at home with no bashment gear. But never fear—her fairy godmother hooks her up and Spice heads straight to the session to flop those stepsisters and take the man they’ve got their eyes on. (The man in question is played by Spice’s real-life man, Nicholas Lall). Shot entirely in Paris, France, the “Needle Eye” video delivers a powerful dose of eye candy.     Rsonist Breaks Down The Reggae Roots Of The Heatmakerz’ Crack Music

    Gregory Green aka Rsonist was born in Mandeville, Jamaica and moved to NYC as a youth. He was fascinated by music all his life, and grew up to establish The Heatmakerz production team in the early 2000s. They made their name working with Cam’Ron and The Diplomats, as well as other big name rappers like Lil Wayne and Fat Joe. The Heatmakerz production style features lots of high-energy beats, sped-up soul loops, and reggae samples galore—a sound that came to be known as “Crack Music.” After shooting an episode of Rhythm Roulette for our peoples at Mass Appeal, Rsonist spoke with Boomshots and broke down the inspiration behind some of his best-known reggae flips.     When the name Terror Fabulous is mentioned one often starts belting out Nadine Sutherland’s famous hook on “Action” followed by mumbling Terror’s retort, we all do it even to this day. What most don’t recognize that when Terror Fabulous broke out in the early 90’s he was one of the few Dee Jays that wasn’t afraid to talk about the harsh realities of living in Jamaica, this rawness is what propelled Terror’s Yaga Yaga album to be the hardest major label dancehall album ever, that and Dave Kelly/Madhouse specifically wanting no remix or any sort of watered down vibes. To this day “Gangster’s Anthem” is still revered as one of the biggest gun man tunes ever, so big it was recently sampled for Vado and Mavado’s appropriately titled “Gangster.” Video After The Jump…
