  • FLASHBACK FIRDAY: Vybz Kartel Feat. Wayne Marshall “New Millenium”

    Foundation Kartel     kartel

Last week Kartel dropped a scathing verse on Busta Rhymes Twerk It (Remix) reminding us even though he’s behind bars he’s still a force in the dancehall realm. Today we take back to when Kartel was making a name for himself, back when it seemed that every riddim Don Corleone produced was mad specifically for Kartel. The riddim which introduced the world to the Gaza Boss was the Krazy Riddim with his breakout hit “New Millenium” featuring Wayne Marshall. Now Kartel and Wayne both appeared on another tune over the Krazy Riddim called “Why You Doing It” which was often played back to back that many believed it was all one song. He may be a few shades lighter but the lyrics was always there – Tune After The Jump…  (more…)

The Tune Was Hard, But The Video Goes Harder

When Wayne Marshall and co-producer Baby G first dreamed up the idea for “Go Hard” they envisioned an all-star dancehall posse cut. They were seeking to create a “mixtape style” record around an explosive rhythm track built by in-demand studio musician Teetimus. “We wanted to make a big collaborative dancehall track with that kind of Wu-Tang feel,” Marshall explains. “Hip-hop energy blended with thatdancehall snare—just something anthem-like.” Today the long-awaited video was released, and it’s every bit as epic as you need it to be.
